Twilight Zone Anniversary

Published by storyteller at 5:17 am under Living Edit This

On Oct 2, it was 50 years ago that the Twilight zone made its debut on Television and it seems that now we live in the Twilight zone.  It was a show that kept everyone wondering….about ware-wolves, vampires, aliens, and time travel along with all the other weird stuff.  It was a good show to say the least, but to watch it now leaves alot to be desired.  The old episodes have been on television of late leading up to the 50 yr. anniversary mark for the show that was so popular back when I was a kid.

Now I watch and wonder how could we have really believed this stuff or even really set our watch by the stuff that was on.  I know people who never missed an episode, and they were actually excited about all the nostalgia. And who can forget Rod Serling he was one of a kind and the way he introduced each segment.  He had such a strong presence and stern voice he was right for the introductions, and he is sorely missed.  As for nostalgia goes  I guess I am the same way about the X-Files, or even Dallas or Knotts Landing and remember old Falcon Crest?  All these shows reminded me of Black and White Television, and even the grainy looking color that was the next step  and how far we have come, or have we?

Sure everything is in color, and in High Def  now but really it reminded me that I am older, and more mature. Well I am supposed to be let’s put it that way.  What it reminded me was that my parents were the ones who set their clocks by the show, and how could they watch that stuff?  I guess they would say that about me too, during my X-Files days. All in all it is kind of a good thing to watch the old shows and thank goodness the Television reception got better, and Color came into our world, and the Television sets do not take up the whole floor anymore, also no Rabbit Ears to mess with or the box to move the roof antenna around that was a pain in the rear

Oh and now that I am more mature the shows weren’t as scary to me as they were when having nightmares over them……We have come a long way in that 50 yrs. as far as our perception of the things that go bump in the night.  Now a days, it could be the 3 thugs breaking in to do a home invasion instead of the Ware-wolf who was your neighbor or the Ghostly woman in white who used to be your Aunt.  All in all I am glad it is over and now the Hubby can go back to normal without this bout of nostalgia over with until the 75th anniversary.  We may not be around for that one which is fine for me, though he might get miffed over it.

Everyone have a great day
